School is ..just around the corner
School resumes soon. Or for some, it may be the first time their little one heads out the door to start on their adventure in education. It is very important to start out with the right attitude, the right approach to creating success for our children. There have been mounting pressures on most teachers, especially those in the public schools, and inadvertently there has been a rise in the idea that children need more rules, more punishments, and consquences. Learning has suffered at both the academic and equally importantly- the social-emotional levels. IT has been shown again and again that there are direct connections between the social emotional atmosphere of a class and the learning that takes place there. There are practical effective strategies that you can use to move your child toward success and that can easily be shared with teachers, thus fostering a collaborative rather than adversarial relationship. I'd like to hear from you and share this approach.
